Before you start
- Your preferred domain name and business email
- An inventory of existing hosting, mailboxes and domains
- A clear decision about who owns renewals
Keep passwords, one-time codes, card details and sensitive customer records out of your brief. Send access invitations through the platform itself.
Follow the steps
Step 1
If you have hosting already, add its provider and domain to your intake. Let us check reuse before buying another plan.
Step 2
For a new plan, check WordPress support, HTTPS, backup recovery, storage and support availability. Compare the recurring renewal total rather than only the introductory price.
Step 3
Check whether business mailboxes are included and what they cost at renewal. Hosting and email may be separate products.
Step 4
Create the account under your own business contact details. Enable two-factor authentication and retain recovery options privately.
Step 5
Before any domain changes, list existing email and DNS services. We agree the website launch changes first so mail is not accidentally interrupted.
Step 6
Pay your provider directly. Send a delegated invitation rather than your login.
How to know it worked
We need the domain name, provider, access invitation and a confirmed plan. Purchasing hosting alone does not make a website production-ready.
If you get stuck
- Domain registered elsewhere? Keep it there unless there is a practical reason to transfer.
- Existing email in use? Do not replace name servers without a DNS plan.
- Provider wants an upgrade? Ask for a written requirement before buying.
Email sai@mourningmedia.com with your client reference, the step you reached and the exact error. A cropped screenshot helps; hide personal information and payment details first. We reply in writing.
